　　住宿

　　宿舍由东南区和lakeshore两部分组成。southeast比较party一些，lakeshore离中心远，所以偏学术（相对而言）。大一的时候住在lakeshore，环境很不错。lakeshore有一个地理位置不错的宿舍楼，叫liz water。位置很好，离教学楼都很近，不过订的人很多。

　　校园活动

　　威斯康辛大学麦迪逊校区毗邻世界闻名的曼多塔湖（Lake Mendota）。每年威大都会在曼多塔湖举办各项运动竞赛，也有不少学生在湖畔进行社团活动或是小团体的聚会，但大多数都是大学部的学生。不过曼多塔湖的确是所有就读威斯康辛大学麦迪逊校区的学生最美好的一个回忆，在入学时和毕业后，再好好的欣赏这片美景，也算是威大学生的幸福。威大的实际面积有一万零六百四十九英亩，共有八百五十栋建筑物，其中还包括了实验农场、植物园和健康科学中心。当前大约有五万五千人和这个大学有关，不论是学生、教职员或是受雇的助理，在这个校园当中，大家都努力的想要将威斯康辛大学麦迪逊校区打造成一个“大学城”，如果它可以成为一个真正的城市的话，应该可以算是全国第十二大的都市了。每个在这里生活的人，都喜欢这样的气氛─真正具有学术风格的气氛。

　　威斯康星州，美国北部一州。别称獾州。北部是苏必利尔高地，南部是平原。有1万多个湖泊。第四纪时全境除西南部外，均遭冰川覆盖，故多数为冰蚀湖。温带大陆性气候，冬季严寒、夏季炎热，受大湖调节，滨湖地带气候较温和。年平均降水量760毫米，春夏较多。森林覆盖率45%，主要分布在北部。

　　威斯康辛州有温暖的长夏与严寒的冬季。冬天一月的均温从北部的摄氏零下十二度二至东南部的摄氏零下五度六。夏天七月均温从北部的摄氏十九度至西南部的摄氏二十二度。北部威斯康辛州全年平均降水量从125公分至150公分，而威斯康辛州南部全年平均降水量则有76公分。该州南部全年平均降雪量为76公分，而北部艾尔尼郡（Ir ony County）的全年平均降雪量可达254公分。

　　交通

　　水运在本州交通运输中一向占重要地位。1959年圣劳伦斯航道建成后，水运把滨湖城市和大西洋连接起来，苏必利尔城、格林湾城和密尔沃基都成为海港。通过本州港口装运的货物量占大湖区货运总量的1/4。全州公路线总长16万公里，铁路线长8000公里。大型机场有15座，普通机场有102座。密尔沃基有大型国际机场。机场/接机信息：新生一般会选择飞到芝加哥ORD机场或者飞到麦迪逊MSN机场. 如果是飞到芝加哥机场，如交通一栏所讲，乘坐Van Galder Bus直达学校Memorial Union. 耗时约3小时，费用单程29刀，链接http：//www.coachusa.com/vangalder/. 直飞到MSN机场的同学可以乘坐机场的出租车直达你的宿舍，费用约20刀 (请记住要给小费哦！大约2-3刀差不多了)，耗时大约20-25分钟.

　　本校在提升校园环境安全方面做了大量工作。学校提供包括24小时校内巡逻、夜间护送、24小时紧急电话、宿舍监控、道路照明、学生巡逻在内的安全服务。周围治安良好。每年都会公布一份关于校园安全的报告，每一起报警都会被详细的记录，以便学校改进安保工作。夜间到校外的话，尽量结伴而行，确保安全。该校所在位置属于中型城市，该区域的毒品/枪支犯罪率(每千人)为1.01。
