Two official sets of transcripts (and degree certificates from those institutions that do not indicate the awarding of degrees on the transcript) from all post-secondary institutions attended, regardless of the number of courses taken or the amount of time spent there. This includes any short-term enrolment, courses taken for upgrading, transfer credit, and any previous attendance at the University of Calgary. Transcripts and degree certificates issued in a language other than English must be accompanied by certified, word-for-word English translations. To be considered official, all academic records must be received in envelopes that have been sealed and endorse by the issuing institution.

Personal Statement:
Research Proposal outlining the area and focus of your intended research (250 -500 words for MA application; 750-1000 words for PhD application)
Recommendation Letter:
We require two (2) academic online reference forms.
The appropriate link with the official documents and instructions will be forwarded to your referees with the reference request. It is recognized that references are supplied in confidence. Referees will not be notified until you submit your application. References are valid for one year from the date on the reference.
Writing Sample:

This email is typically an overnight process, so can take over 24 hours to be sent after your application is submitted. Please ensure that your referees are academics (professors, lecturers). It is advisable that you contact your referees prior to applying so they have some advance notice and can start preparing a letter before you apply. Referees will need to complete the reference form in addition to their reference letter.

A second official sealed set must be provided to a certified translator. The translator must provide a word-for-word translation of the transcript and notarize the translation. These documents must be put in a sealed envelope by the translator. The translator should then forward that sealed envelope of the original transcript and the notarized translation to the address provided below.
Curriculum Vitae:
A detailed resume indicating volunteer or paid experience relevant to social work. Please include educational history, professional experience (including teaching), professional and educational awards/distinctions, publications, and presentations.
Personal Statement:
A study plan (statement of intent) outlining the applicant’s educational goals and career expectations. The study plan must indicate the applicant’s intended area of specialization: Clinical Social Work Practice, Leadership in the Human Services, or International and Community Development.
